Is Weebly Shutting Down in the US or UK?
No. As of 15 October 2026, Weebly has not announced a shutdown in the USA or UK, and its public position is that it has no plans to discontinue the Weebly site builder at this time. The 2026 shutdown covers 67 other countries, but there are warning signs worth knowing about, so it is sensible to have a plan B.
01 • what is confirmed
Is Weebly still working in the USA and UK?
Yes. If you are in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland, your Weebly site is not part of the shutdown. You can still publish, edit and sell as before.
The shutdown that started in June 2026 covers a named list of 67 countries. Your country is not on it. You can check the full list for yourself.
02 • why people ask
Why do people think Weebly is shutting down?
Because it is shutting down somewhere. When a company closes its product in 67 countries, owners elsewhere naturally wonder if they are next. News coverage, like Khaleej Times in July 2026, used the word "shut down" in headlines, and those stories spread far beyond the affected countries.
So the worry is fair. But a worry is not an announcement. Make decisions on what Weebly has actually said.
03 • read the signals
What are the warning signs for Weebly?
None of these mean a shutdown is coming. Together, they suggest Weebly is not where Square is putting its effort.
- The Weebly mobile app was removed from the App Store and Google Play on 1 December 2025, as reported by Website Builder Expert. Sites can now only be managed on desktop.
- Weebly's support pages encourage new sites to be built with Square Online, according to the same report.
- Website Builder Expert also describes the Weebly editor as having seen little to no updates since Square bought it in 2018.
- Square has now shown it is willing to close Weebly in whole markets, citing regulation and simplifying its operations.
A fair reading
Weebly is still running for you. It is also a product in maintenance mode. That is a reason to prepare, not to panic.
04 • be ready anyway
What should I do if I use Weebly in the US or UK?
Owners in the 67 countries had about three months between losing publishing and losing their sites. You may never need a plan B, but it costs very little to have one.
- Download a site archive and your account data once a year
- Keep a document with all your page text
- Keep your best photos and logo outside Weebly
- Make sure your domain is registered in your name
- Know which email service you use and who bills you for it
The steps are the same ones affected owners are following now. See how to download your Weebly website and how to transfer your domain from Weebly.
05 • bought weebly elsewhere?
What if I bought Weebly through a hosting company?
Some people use Weebly without knowing it. Hosting companies and other resellers have offered Weebly's builder under their own name. Network Solutions is one example. It wrote to its own Weebly customers in the affected countries with the shutdown dates.
If your business is in the USA or UK, your country is not on the list, whoever you bought Weebly from. But if your reseller emails you about changes, read that email carefully. A reseller can change its own service even when Weebly has not.
To check whether your site runs on Weebly, look at the login page you use to edit it, or the name on your invoices.
06 • or move on your terms
Should I leave Weebly now, before I have to?
Only if it makes sense for your business. If your site works and rarely changes, staying put is reasonable. If your site is out of date, slow on phones, or you already planned a refresh, moving now means you choose the timing instead of a deadline choosing it for you.
