weebly backup • step by step

How to Download My Weebly Website Before Login Ends

To download your Weebly website, log in and go to Edit Site > Settings > Archive to get a ZIP of the site, then go to Account Settings > My Data > Download My Data to save your account data. Do both before 26 December 2026, because after that date there is no login access in the 67 affected countries.

This guide also covers the part most guides skip: what the ZIP file does not contain, and what to save by hand so nothing is lost.

01 • two different things

What can I download from Weebly?

Weebly gives you two downloads, and they are not the same. Your account data is information about you and your account. The site archive is a ZIP file of one website's published pages, images and files. If you run more than one site, you need one archive for each.

DownloadWhereWhat it is for
Account dataAccount Settings > My Data > Download My DataA copy of the data Weebly holds about your account
Site archiveEdit Site > Settings > ArchiveA ZIP of one site's published pages, images and files

Network Solutions, which resells Weebly, gives the archive path as Edit Site > Settings > General > Archive. The Archive section sits near the bottom of the General settings page.

02 • the site zip

How do I download a Weebly site archive?

  1. 1Sign in to Weebly on a computer. The mobile app was removed from the app stores on 1 December 2025, according to Website Builder Expert, so use a desktop browser.
  2. 2Open the site you want to save and click Edit Site.
  3. 3Click Settings, then stay on the General tab and scroll down to Archive.
  4. 4Enter your email address and request the archive. Weebly emails you a link to a ZIP file.
  5. 5Open the email and download the ZIP. Save it in two places, for example your computer and a cloud drive.
  6. 6Repeat for every site in your account.

Lost the email?

Ultra Web Hosting's knowledge base says Weebly keeps your last three archives in the same Archive section, so you can download them again without starting over.

03 • your account data

How do I use Download My Data?

  1. 1From your Weebly dashboard, open Account Settings.
  2. 2Click the My Data tab.
  3. 3Choose Download My Data and follow the prompts.
  4. 4Save the file next to your site archives.

The same tab also has an option to ask Weebly to erase your data, which Khaleej Times described as the Erase Data and Forget Me option. Do not use it until you have every download you need and your domain has moved. Erasing first could leave you with nothing.

04 • the honest part

Is a Weebly backup a working website?

No. This surprises a lot of people. The ZIP contains static copies of your pages, plus images and files. It does not contain a website you can switch back on somewhere else.

In the ZIP

  • Your published pages as HTML files
  • Images and files you uploaded
  • Your text, as it appeared on the live site

Not working from the ZIP

  • Contact forms (they ran on Weebly's servers)
  • Slideshows and other dynamic widgets
  • Store checkout and blog features
  • Any way to import it back into Weebly
In the ZIP compared with Not working from the ZIP

Ultra Web Hosting's knowledge base explains that form submissions are handled on Weebly's side, so forms stop working in exported HTML, and that slideshows, galleries and other interactive elements stop working outside the platform. The archive is a one-way snapshot, not a restore point.

05 • fill the gaps

What else should I save by hand?

Save these yourself
  • Every page's text, copied into a document
  • Your best photos, at full size
  • Your logo file
  • Each form's fields and where submissions were sent
  • Your product list, prices and descriptions
  • Customer reviews or testimonials you show on the site
  • A screenshot of each page, so you remember the layout

Screenshots matter more than you think. Once login ends, you cannot look at your old site again. A quick picture of each page makes the rebuild much easier.

If you run an online store, read what to do with your Weebly online store as well. Products and orders need their own plan.

06 • what comes next

What do I do after I download my Weebly site?

Downloading protects your content. It does not bring your site back online. Two jobs are left: move your domain, and build the new site.

  1. 1Move your domain before 26 December 2026. Follow the domain guide.
  2. 2Check your business email. See how to keep it.
  3. 3Choose where your new site will live. Compare the options.

Send me your old site address and I will design a new homepage from your saved content in 48 hours. Free, before you pay anything.

questions

Frequently asked questions

01. Where is the Archive option in Weebly?

+

Open the site, click Edit Site, then Settings. On the General tab, scroll down to the Archive section.

02. How long does a Weebly archive take?

+

Weebly emails you a download link when the ZIP is ready. Small sites are usually quick. Request it well before 26 December 2026 so you have time to try again if the email does not arrive.

03. Can I download my Weebly site after 26 December 2026?

+

No. In the 67 affected countries, login access ends on 26 December 2026. After that you cannot reach the Archive or My Data options.

04. Can I upload the Weebly ZIP to a new host?

+

You can upload the files, but forms, slideshows, widgets and store features will not work. Treat the ZIP as a record and as raw material for a rebuild.

05. Does Download My Data include my website?

+

No. Download My Data is your account data. The website itself is saved with the Archive option, one site at a time.
