Is Weebly Shutting Down? What It Means for You

Yes. Weebly is shutting down in 67 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia and Pakistan: sites there were taken offline on 27 September 2026, and account login ends on 26 December 2026. Weebly has not announced a shutdown in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland, and says it has no plans to discontinue the site builder at this time.

If your site is already offline, you have not done anything wrong. You still have time to save your content and your domain. This page tells you what happened, what to do first, and where to go next. Use the checker below to confirm your country.

Is my country affected by the Weebly shutdown?

Weebly country checker

Weebly login ends 26 December 2026

—

Counted from today on your device. After this date there is no login, so no downloads.

The checker uses the list of 67 countries that Weebly published. If you are in one of them, the shutdown applies to every Weebly site you run from that country, free or paid. If your country is not on the list, nothing has changed for you yet. You can see the full list of 67 countries on its own page.

One note before you go further. Some people bought Weebly through a reseller, such as a hosting company. One reseller tells its customers that their sites go offline on 2 January 2027 instead. If you received an email from a reseller, follow the dates in that email for your account.

02 • the four dates

What are the Weebly shutdown dates?

Date timeline
  1. 01 • 29 June 2026

    Publishing stopped

Sites in the 67 countries could no longer publish new pages.

  2. 02 • 27 September 2026

    Sites unpublished

Weebly sites in these countries were taken offline. Visitors now see nothing.

  3. 03 • 26 December 2026

    Login ends

Last day to sign in, download your data and move your domain. After this, there is no login access.

  4. 04 • 2 January 2027

    Platform ends

Per Network Solutions, Weebly platforms are no longer available in these countries after this date.

Two of these dates have already passed. Since 29 June 2026, owners in the affected countries cannot publish new pages. On 27 September 2026, their sites were unpublished. That means the site is offline. The pages still exist inside your account, but nobody can visit them.

The date that matters most now is 26 December 2026. Until then, you can still log in. After that, there is no login access at all. You cannot download anything, and you cannot unlock your domain from inside Weebly. Network Solutions, which resells Weebly, adds that the platform ends in these countries after 2 January 2027.

Plain words

Your site is offline, but your files are still there until 26 December 2026. Use the time to download them and move your domain.

03 • the reason given

Why is Weebly shutting down in 67 countries?

Weebly is owned by Square. In its notice, Weebly says it is winding down services in these countries due to changes in regulation and to simplify its global operations. It has not named a specific law or given more detail than that.

Khaleej Times reported the news on 5 July 2026 for owners in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman, based on the email Weebly sent to customers. Owners have also been asking for alternatives and refunds in Square's own community forum in 2026, for example in this thread about alternatives and this one about refunds. If you feel stuck, you are not alone.

The reason does not change what you need to do. Whatever the cause, Weebly will not run your site in these countries any more, and Network Solutions says a site cannot be transferred or converted to another Weebly account. So your site has to live somewhere else.

04 • your checklist

What should I do before 26 December 2026?

Do this now
  • Download your account data and an archive of each site
  • Save your text, photos, logo and product list somewhere safe
  • Unlock your domain and copy the EPP (transfer) code
  • Move your domain to a registrar account in your own name
  • Ask Weebly support about Google Workspace email, if you use it
  • Decide where your new website will live
  1. 1Log in to Weebly. Go to Account Settings > My Data > Download My Data. This saves your account data. See how to download your Weebly website.
  2. 2For each site, open Edit Site > Settings > Archive. Weebly emails you a ZIP file of the site. Save it in two places.
  3. 3Copy your page text into a document. Download your best photos. Export your product list if you sell online. The ZIP alone is not enough.
  4. 4Move your domain. In the Dashboard, go to Websites > Domains > Manage > Manage Domain. Turn off the Registrar Lock and copy the EPP code. Follow the domain transfer guide, especially if your domain ends in a country code like .ae or .my.
  5. 5If your business email runs on Google Workspace through Weebly, contact Weebly support and ask them to move it directly to Google. See how to keep your email.
  6. 6Pick your next platform and start the new site before December, so your domain has somewhere to point when the transfer finishes.

05 • what survives

What do I keep and what do I lose?

What you keep

  • Your domain name, if you move it before 26 December
  • Your text and photos, if you download them
  • Your account data, via Download My Data
  • A ZIP archive of each site's published pages
  • Your Google Workspace email, if support moves it to Google

What you lose

  • Your live website (offline since 27 September 2026)
  • Working forms, slideshows and widgets
  • Your Weebly store as a working shop
  • Any chance to move the site to another Weebly account
  • All login access after 26 December 2026
What you keep compared with What you lose

The left column depends on you acting in time. The right column is already decided. That is the honest picture: you can keep your name, your words and your pictures, but the Weebly website itself does not come with you.

06 • about the zip file

Is my Weebly backup a working website?

No. The archive is a copy of your published pages, images and files. It is useful as a record and as raw material. But Ultra Web Hosting's knowledge base explains that forms, slideshows and other dynamic Weebly elements stop working outside the platform, and the ZIP cannot be imported back into Weebly. Website Builder Expert also noted that Weebly removed its mobile app from the app stores on 1 December 2025, so desktop is now the only way in.

In practice, this means your next site has to be built again. You can reuse your content, but the pages themselves need a new home that works on its own.

Which Weebly guide do I need next?

08 • the next step

Do I need a new website after Weebly?

Yes, if you are in one of the 67 countries. Weebly's own notice and Network Solutions both make clear that the site cannot stay on Weebly, and the archive is not a working site. So the real choice is not whether to rebuild, but how.

If your site was a simple page or two and you enjoy doing it yourself, a builder like Wix or Squarespace may be fine. Our honest comparison of Weebly alternatives says when DIY is the better choice. If your website brings you customers and you want it done properly, I can help.

questions

Frequently asked questions

01. Is Weebly shutting down completely?

+

No. Weebly is winding down in 67 named countries. In the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland, it has not announced a shutdown and says it has no plans to discontinue the site builder at this time.

02. When does Weebly shut down in the affected countries?

+

Publishing stopped on 29 June 2026. Sites were unpublished on 27 September 2026. Account login ends on 26 December 2026. Network Solutions says the platform is no longer available in these countries after 2 January 2027.

03. My Weebly site is offline. Is it deleted?

+

Not yet. Unpublished means visitors cannot see it, but you can still log in until 26 December 2026 to download your data and archive. See what to do if your Weebly site is unpublished.

04. Can I move my site to a Weebly account in another country?

+

No. Network Solutions states that it is not possible to transfer or convert the site to another Weebly account, because Weebly is ending operations in these countries entirely.

05. Will I lose my domain name when Weebly shuts down?

+

Not if you move it in time. Unlock it and copy the EPP code from your Weebly dashboard before 26 December 2026. Country-code domains such as .ae, .sa, .sg and .my need help from Weebly support. See how to transfer your domain from Weebly.

06. Can I just upload my Weebly ZIP file somewhere else?

+

Not as a working website. The archive holds your published pages and files, but forms, slideshows and widgets do not work outside Weebly. Use it as raw material for a new site.
