Is Weebly shutting down in Kuala Lumpur?
Weebly login ends 26 December 2026
—
Counted from today on your device. After this date there is no login, so no downloads.
Yes. Malaysia is on Weebly's list, so the shutdown covers KL, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and everywhere else in the country. Publishing stopped on 29 June 2026, public sites went offline on 27 September 2026, and login ends on 26 December 2026.
If a customer tells you your website is 'down', this is why. It will not come back on Weebly. The rest of this page is about what to save and where to go next.
02 • .my and .com.my
Can I keep my .com.my domain?
Yes. MYNIC, which runs Malaysia's domains, allows a domain to move to another registrar during its active registration period. Its Registrant Policy sets different eligibility rules for different endings, which matters when you pick a new registrar.
| Ending | Who can hold it (MYNIC Registrant Policy) |
|---|---|
| .my | Open to individuals and organisations from any country, with possible identity checks |
| .com.my | Companies incorporated under the Companies Act, businesses registered under the Registration of Businesses Act, and foreign companies registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, among others |
- 1Have your SSM registration details ready. A .com.my domain is tied to your business registration.
- 2Open an account with a registrar that handles .my domains.
- 3Ask Weebly support to help release the domain before 26 December 2026, because Weebly says country-code domains need its help.
- 4Do not change the owner details before the move. Weebly warns this can lock the domain for 60 days.
03 • a rule to get right
What does SSM require on a company website?
Malaysian companies must show their registered name and company registration number on their websites. Section 30(2)(b) of the Companies Act 2016 says so directly, and section 30(5) makes it an offence for the company and every officer who breaks the rule. Many old Weebly sites skipped this, or showed an outdated number.
Easy to fix on a new site
Put your full registered name and your current company number in the footer of every page. If you are a sole proprietor or partnership, show the name and number on your SSM business registration.
04 • kl customers
What should a new KL business website include?
- Registered name and SSM number in the footer
- Bahasa Malaysia and English, with Chinese if your customers expect it
- Areas you serve, such as KL city centre, PJ, Subang, Cheras or Puchong
- WhatsApp and call buttons that work with one tap
- Prices in RM where you can share them
- A privacy note on forms, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010
