Meta Conversions API Setup for Roofing Companies

For a roofing company, the Conversions API sends booked inspections, completed inspections and signed jobs from your CRM back to Meta, so your ads can learn which homeowners actually became roofing jobs. The key decision is which stage to send as your quality signal, and for most roofers that is the inspection, not the signed contract.

01 • the roofing sales cycle

What does a roofing lead go through before it becomes a job?

A roofing lead rarely buys on the first call. The usual path is enquiry, phone call, inspection, estimate, then a signed contract. Storm and insurance work adds a claim and an adjuster visit in the middle, which can stretch the timeline for weeks. Retail replacement (no insurance) usually moves faster, but homeowners still collect several quotes.

Event flow • a roofing lead

  1. 01

    Ad + form

    Homeowner asks for an inspection.

  2. 02

    Contacted

    Your office reaches them.

  3. 03

    Inspection booked

A date is on the calendar.

  4. 04

    Estimate sent

    Scope and price delivered.

  5. 05

    Signed

    Contract and deposit, with value.

Each box can become an event sent from your CRM to Meta.

02 • the quality event

Which roofing stage should I send as the quality event?

Meta's Conversions API for CRM guidance asks for a target stage reached within 28 days of the lead, with a conversion rate between 1% and 40%. For most roofers, 'inspection booked' or 'inspection completed' fits that window far better than 'contract signed', which can be held up by insurance claims.

StageGood quality signal?Why
Form submittedNoMeta already sees this; it says nothing about quality
Inspection bookedOften yesProves a real homeowner with a real roof agreed to a visit
Inspection completedOften yesFilters out no-shows; still inside 28 days for most leads
Contract signedSend it, but rarely as the optimisation targetInsurance work can take longer than 28 days

Send the signed contract anyway, with its value. It makes your reporting honest even if it is not the event your campaigns optimise for.

03 • where leads come from

Where do roofing leads come from, and how is each tracked?

Lead sourceHow it reaches your CRMTracking note
Meta instant formField mapping into the CRMStore Meta's lead ID so later stages can be matched
Website estimate formForm posts to the CRMSend Lead from both pixel and server with one event ID
Phone call from the adCall log or call trackingMark the source by hand if you have no call tracking
Storm canvassing or referralsEntered by your teamDo not send these to Meta as ad results

Many roofers get a large share of jobs by phone. If calls are not linked to the ad, Meta only sees the form leads and undercounts what the ads do. A simple 'how did you hear about us?' field, filled in by your office, is better than nothing.

04 • storm season

How should roofers handle tracking during storm season?

  • Lead volume can jump suddenly after a storm. Make sure the CRM stages are updated daily so events reach Meta in time; Meta rejects events sent more than 7 days after they happened.
  • Keep storm and retail leads in clearly labelled pipelines or tags, so you can see which ads bring which kind of job.
  • Do not change your quality event in the middle of a storm surge. Change it in a quiet month so you can compare like with like.

Your ad wording and landing pages around insurance claims also have rules in some states. The roofing storm season website checklist covers Florida and Texas.

05 • the form

What should a roofing lead form ask?

A roofing form should help your office decide quickly whether to book an inspection. Two or three questions beyond contact details usually do it.

Roofing lead form
  • Name, phone, email and the property address or zip code
  • Do you own the property?
  • What is the problem? (leak, storm damage, old roof, other)
  • Is there an insurance claim involved?
  • How soon do you need help?

The insurance question helps your team route the lead and helps your reports later: storm leads and retail leads often behave differently, and keeping them apart makes it clear which campaigns produce which kind of job.

06 • what i set up

What does a roofing tracking setup include?

Roofing setup
  • Pipeline stages: new, contacted, inspection booked, inspection done, estimate sent, signed, lost
  • Lead event from the website (pixel + Conversions API, deduplicated)
  • Inspection booked and signed-job events from the CRM, with job value
  • Meta lead ID stored for instant-form leads
  • A weekly report: leads, inspections and signed jobs by campaign

questions

Frequently asked questions

01. Should a roofer optimise for signed contracts?

+

Usually not at first. Insurance work can push signing beyond the 28-day window Meta's CRM guidance asks for. Booked or completed inspections are often a better signal.

02. Can phone call leads be sent to Meta?

+

Yes, if the call can be linked to the ad and the person. Without call tracking, mark the source in your CRM so at least your own reports are accurate.

03. Do I need GoHighLevel?

+

No. Any CRM that can send events, or a simple custom CRM, will work. GoHighLevel has a built-in Meta action.

04. What about leads from door-knocking?

+

Keep them in your CRM but do not send them to Meta as ad results. Only send events for people who came from your ads.
