Weebly to Square Online or a New Website: Which Is Right?

Square Online is a sensible move from Weebly only if your business is in a country where Square processes payments, which in October 2026 means the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, Japan, France and Spain. If you are in one of the 67 countries Weebly is leaving, Square Online is not a real option for taking payments, so a new website on another platform is the way forward.

Weebly's own support pages point new sites towards Square Online, and Square owns both. So it is a fair question. Here is the honest answer, including when Square Online is the better choice than anything I would build for you.

01 • start with the country

Is Square Online available in my country?

Square's developer documentation lists the countries where payment processing with Square is available: Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. Sellers elsewhere can only record external or cash payments.

The short version

Square Online is not a lifeboat for the 67 countries. It is an upgrade path for Weebly users in Square's own markets.

02 • the product

What is Square Online, and how is it different from Weebly?

Square Online is Square's website and online store builder. It is built around Square's payments and point of sale, so products, orders and inventory can sit in one Square account with your in-person sales. Website Builder Expert reported in October 2025 that Weebly's support pages encourage new sites to be built with Square Online.

Square's US pricing page lists four plans: Square Free at $0 a month, Plus at $49, Premium at $149, and Pro with custom pricing for larger businesses. On the free plan you pay processing fees on online card payments; the page shows 3.3% + 30¢ in the US. Prices differ by country and change, so check Square's page for yours.

The important thing to know is that moving from Weebly to Square Online is still a rebuild. Square Online uses its own section-based editor and templates. Your Weebly design does not carry over; your text, images and products do, if you saved them.

03 • when it is the right call

When is Square Online the right choice?

Square Online fits if
  • You are in one of Square's eight payment countries
  • You already use Square for in-person payments
  • You sell physical products, food or simple bookable items
  • You want stock and orders to sync with your till
  • You are happy to work within Square's templates
  • Your budget is small and the free plan covers you

If most of those are true, Square Online is probably the better choice, and I would tell you so. A café, a market stall or a small shop already on Square gets a lot for very little.

04 • when it is not

When is a new website the better choice?

  • You are in one of the 67 countries Weebly is leaving, so Square payments are not available to you.
  • You sell services, not products: trades, clinics, consultants, agencies. A store builder is the wrong shape for your sales.
  • You need to win customers on Google with clear service and area pages.
  • You want a design that reflects your business, not a shared template.
  • You never want to be told by a platform that it is leaving your country again.

In those cases, the better move is a site on a platform you control, on your own domain. That can be a DIY builder or a custom site. The honest guide to Weebly alternatives explains when DIY is enough.

questions

Frequently asked questions

01. Can I move my Weebly site to Square Online automatically?

+

No. Square Online uses a different editor, so the design is rebuilt. Your saved text, images and products can be reused.

02. Is Square Online available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia or Pakistan?

+

Not for taking payments. Square processes payments only in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, Japan, France and Spain.

03. How much does Square Online cost?

+

Square's US page lists a free plan, Plus at $49 a month and Premium at $149 a month, plus processing fees. Prices vary by country, so check Square's site for yours.

04. Is Square Online better than Weebly?

+

For businesses already on Square in its payment countries, it is the platform Square is investing in. Weebly's app was removed in December 2025 and its editor has seen few updates.

05. I am in the US and Weebly still works. Should I switch now?

+

Only if it suits you. Weebly has not announced a US shutdown. See Weebly in the USA and UK.
