Weebly in Dubai: What to Do Now Your Site Is Offline

Weebly is shutting down across the UAE, so every Weebly site run from Dubai was unpublished on 27 September 2026 and owners can only log in until 26 December 2026. Before that date, download your site, ask Weebly support to release your .ae domain, and line up a new website so customers who search for you find something.

This page is for businesses based in Dubai. The UAE guide covers the whole country; here we focus on what is different when your customers, licence and domain are Dubai-based.

01 • where things stand

Is Weebly still working in Dubai?

Weebly login ends 26 December 2026

—

Counted from today on your device. After this date there is no login, so no downloads.

No. The United Arab Emirates is on Weebly's list of 67 countries, and the shutdown applies to every emirate. For a Dubai business, that means three things. You have not been able to publish changes since 29 June 2026. Your public site has been offline since 27 September 2026. And your account login closes on 26 December 2026.

Khaleej Times reported the change on 5 July 2026, based on the email Weebly sent to UAE customers. If you never saw that email, check the inbox you used when you signed up for Weebly, including spam. The dates in it are the ones that apply to your account.

02 • if your site was your shop

What if I run a home business on an e-Trader licence?

Many small Dubai businesses sell online without a shop. Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) issues an e-Trader licence for start-ups and freelancers who run their business from home, online or through social media. According to the Government of Dubai Media Office, holders cannot open a physical shop or store.

If that describes you, your Weebly site may have been your only storefront. Losing it is more than an inconvenience. Do two things this week: point customers to WhatsApp or Instagram with a simple message, and save your product list before 26 December. The Weebly online store guide shows how.

Not sure which licence you hold?

Check your licence document or the DET portal. Mainland companies, free-zone companies and e-Trader licence holders all have different rules about what they can sell and where. Your new website should match what your licence actually allows.

03 • your .ae address

How do I move my .ae domain from Weebly in Dubai?

The .ae domain belongs to the UAE. It is overseen by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and run day to day by the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA). Under the .aeDA's transfer policy, you start a transfer through the new registrar using the domain password (also called the authorisation code), you keep the time left on your registration, and no fee can be charged to you for the transfer itself.

The catch is that Weebly says all country-code domains need its support team's help. So the password does not just appear in your dashboard the way an EPP code does for a .com. Ask for it in writing.

  1. 1Open an account with a registrar that sells .ae domains, in your own name or your company's name.
  2. 2Contact Weebly support. Say: 'My business is in Dubai. Please help me transfer my .ae domain out before 26 December 2026, and send me the domain password.'
  3. 3Give the password to your new registrar and start the transfer there.
  4. 4When the transfer completes, add your email records back and point the domain to your new site.

Moving a .com as well? The standard unlock-and-EPP-code steps are in the domain transfer guide.

04 • keep the phone ringing

How do I keep Dubai customers while my site is down?

  • Update your Google Business Profile: correct phone number, opening hours and a temporary note. Remove the dead website link for now.
  • Put a WhatsApp click-to-chat link in your Instagram bio and on your profile. In Dubai, many customers would rather message than fill in a form.
  • If customers find you by area, such as Al Quoz, Jumeirah or Business Bay, make sure that area is written on your profile and in your posts.
  • Answer every message the same day. While your website is down, speed is the thing that wins the job.

05 • the next website

What should my new Dubai website do better?

A rebuild is a chance to fix what the old Weebly site never did well. For Dubai businesses, three things matter most.

Dubai rebuild checklist
  • WhatsApp and call buttons that stay visible on phones
  • English and Arabic versions if your customers use both, with Arabic laid out right to left
  • Your area of Dubai and the areas you serve, written on the page
  • Prices or 'from' prices in AED where you can share them
  • Fast loading on mobile data, because most visitors arrive by phone

questions

Frequently asked questions

01. Is Weebly shutting down in Dubai?

+

Yes. The whole UAE is on Weebly's list of 67 countries. Dubai sites went offline on 27 September 2026, and login ends on 26 December 2026.

02. Can I keep my .ae domain after Weebly?

+

Yes, if it is transferred in time. Ask Weebly support for the domain password, because country-code domains need their help, then transfer it to a registrar account in your own name.

03. My site was my only shop under an e-Trader licence. What now?

+

Save your product list and photos before 26 December, point customers to WhatsApp or social media for now, and rebuild the shop on a new platform. See the online store guide.

04. Can I use Square Online instead of Weebly in Dubai?

+

Not for taking payments. Square processes payments in only eight countries, and the UAE is not one of them. See Weebly to Square Online or a new website.
